A wonderful production of Monterverdi's L'Orfeo - The Tale of Orpheus concluded last week at the Meat Market in North Melbourne. It was an honour to play a new work Reconfiguring Orpheus each night before the opera performance. In Reconfiguring Orpheus a number of sampled fragments from Monteverdi’s opera are reimagined into an electronic work. Grains of sound from the sampled fragments are magnified to create micro-beats and lush new textures and colours in a contemporary homage to Monteverdi’s beautiful, powerful work.
