SOUND/IMAGE FESTIVAL

 —  —

Bathway Theatre, University of Greenwich, London

The SOUND/IMAGE audiovisual festival brings together international artists and experts exploring the relationship between sounds and images, and the images which sounds can construct by themselves. The festival delivers a rich programme of complementary talks, screenings, loudspeaker orchestra concerts, and performances – bringing together composers, filmmakers, electronic musicians, live visual performers, researchers from all over the world to stimulate discussion, debate and engage diverse perspectives and new insights on sound and audiovisual practice. Selected as one of the performed works is 'Bundanon' by Anthony Lyons - a fixed media, multi-channel spatialised sound work. The work was written as a reflection on the land and spirit of the location Bundanon on the Shoalhaven river, NSW, Australia.

A performance, collaboration and talk at (CMRC) Contemporary Music Research Centre, Athens Conservatoire, Greece. Really looking forward to playing with Schema Musicalis (Stelios Giannoulakis) on the Synthi 100, as well as playing the buchla easel and talking about my practice. This Wednesday at 7pm, Athens Greece.

Casting Light Projecting Ripples

(AEST, UTC+10) (AEST, UTC+10)

Ionion Centre for Arts and Culture, Metaxata, Kefalonia, Greece

An audiovisual installation work by Australian composer/artist Anthony Lyons that is inspired by the light, foliage, rock and mirrored blue waters of Zervati Cave. Through a process of bio-mapping and re-imagination of the sounds, plant data, light and wave patterns of Zervati as they resonate onto and off the cave walls, this work captures moments of suspended beauty, emergent patterns and rhythmic processes through the interplay of light, shadow and sound.

'Casting Light Projecting Ripples' is an immersive installation integrating field-recordings, synthesis, plant sensors, and video. The work aspires to unveil fresh perspectives and direct attention toward UNESCO GeoPark sites — extraordinary realms of ecological significance and rare beauty.

Conflux Bendigo - The AudioVisual Garden

 — (AEST, UTC+10) — (AEST, UTC+10)

The Capital Theatre Bendigo, 50 View St, , Bendigo VIC 3550 Australia

The AudioVisual Garden is an installation work by Anthony Lyons and Paul Fletcher commissioned for Conflux Bendigo. It can be experienced at the Capital Theatre, Bendigo across the 9th-10th September as part of Conflux Bendigo.

The AudioVisual Garden is a large sound and light installation that translates the energy from plants and people into images and sounds in a quest to discover hidden forms of communication or fields of influence between plants and people.

A collection of 50 indoor plants are wired up via sensors and signal translators to generate and manipulate sound and visuals. These interact with pre-made sounds, visuals and parameters set up by composer Anthony Lyons and visual artist Paul Fletcher.

The result is an installation that’s continually influenced by plants and their bio-feedback signals generating beautiful evolving patterns and shapes of light and sound.

Au Revoir Hands performance at the Melbourne Recital Centre in the Primrose Potter Salon presents original works from their album Hemispheres, exploring concepts of navigation and voyage. An immersive sound world sitting at the intersections of neo-classical, soundscape and electronics.

Hemispheres is a rich tapestry of musical sound forged from the layering of melodic cello, analogue synthesizers, electronic atmospheres and ambient rhythms. A deeply immersive and expansive concert experience, Hemispheres invites a momentary pause to look out beyond the forces that push and pull us.

"A stunning, imaginative and mesmerising sound world by two exceptional artists"

Au Revoir Hands are Anthony Lyons and Emily Williams. Amplified effected cello, buchla music easel synth, beats and samples they explore the worlds of experimental ambient pop and post-minimal electronics.

Multidisciplinary artist and music producer Louise Terra carves a ubiquitous sound and style of electronic music. Taking cues from left-field electronica, dream pop and images from her psyche, each song Louise produces is a world gravitating towards the surreal and the sacred.
